Under the Category "Things That Make Me Happy"

Some of you might know that I have a fairly sizable personal library of books about Paris.

I'm constantly looking for new additions, so I have a list of "Paris Book Filters" I plug in at Amazon in the "Books Category" from time to time to see if there's anything new that I have to have.

Then I'll search for a used copy.

If I find it at a reasonable price, I'll probably grab one, and sometimes another one for a friend.

Here's what popped up today when I did a search in Amazon Books for "Unusual Things to do in Paris."

Life is good.

Winner of the Give-Away

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

If chocolates and flowers are not your thing, I hope you're enjoying a day of taking care of yourself in your own special way.  Be that spending the day in your jammies with a good book, or a stack of magazines, a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.

Being a slug is one of my favorite things and I do it well.  No excuses needed!

Today I'm spending my slugishness with some ARCs I scored through NetGalley.com.

First up is Harlan Coben's "Win."  I'm a fan of Harlan Coben, have been since the days of DorothyL (an online discussion list for lovers of the mystery genre) before his first book was published; he was, even in casual posts, quite the wordsmith, funny and engaging.

We have chosen the winner of our "Carousels of Paris" give-away, and the winner is Barbara Slacum.  Her book will be flying her way soon.

Thanks very much to all of you who showed an interest - I wish I could send a copy of the book to each of you.

This is the perfect time to tell each of you, in case you don't already know, that there is a later version of "Carousels of Paris" available.  It is a bit better quality than the first version with higher qualiity and heavier pages, so if you're planning on buying a copy for yourself or a friend, be sure and look for the edition published by House of Annabelle.  And right now that version is having a cover update to include a sweet blurb from Dorie Greenspan.

Stay tuned - you never know when the next give-away might happen!  It will be announced here, in my newsletter and at my soon to be updated webpage.

Dreams do come true

Today is the day I finally got to see the new version of Carousels of Paris and hold it in my hands.

THIS is the book I dreamed of.

THIS is the book I wish everyone who has  already bought the book in its earlier version could have.

I am SO proud of this book I can't stop the tears.

Dreams do come true.  Even if, sometimes, they take a little detour.

Don't give up!

November Newsletter

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all healthy and happy during this stressful time, and doing things to keep your spirits up.  We're sending good thoughts out to all of you.

We are excited to announce, in time for Christmas (and don’t we love giving, AND receiving, books for Christmas!) a new version of Carousels of Paris.

This version is basically the same, with a few small changes, but is printed on heavier, higher quality paper.

It’s beautiful.

It replaces the first version; at a slightly higher price, but it’s worth it.

You will still, for awhile, be able to purchase the original version published by A&K Publishers. The new version is being published by House of Annabelle, so watch for the change in publisher when you order your book for that special Christmas gift.

We may not be able to travel to Paris right now, but we can enjoy an imaginary visit with the help of Carousels of Paris.

Also, we may have added some new things to our webpage since you were last here, so please stop by, make yourself at home and browse around.

At Etcetera we’re adding photos and there’s a link to my Paris reading list which I have revised, cleaned up and update often,.

There are links to past newsletters and a short story. I’ll be adding short stories here over time.

You’re able to access my blog, Meanderings and Muses, from here where I blog about everything from books to poetry to politics to photography. From art I love to things I don’t love. Travel and things I’m doing while staying safe at home.

This is also the place to sign up for my very occasional newsletter. They’ll be very infrequent now that Carousels of Paris has been out for awhile, but it’s how I announce the random giveaways. And we never know when that might happen.

There’s also a contact page in case you want to send me a note. Always happy to hear from you!

Enjoy and thanks for dropping by! I hope everyone is staying happy and healthy.

(Annabelle says "Hey!")

To those of you who have bought the book already, Thank You!

I hope you're enjoying it, and we appreciate, more than you know, your support.

It has been, truly, a project of love and one Donald and I will forever have fun memories of doing, and being able to do together.

It means a lot to us to be able to share it with you.

We'd love to hear your thoughts.

Kaye and Don

Just in time for Christmas

We love giving (AND receiving) books for Christmas.

And just in time for the holidays, there's a new version of Carousels of Paris.

This version is basically the same, with a few small changes, but is printed on heavier, higher quality paper.

It's beautiful.

And it's available here.

It will, eventually, be replacing the first version; at a slightly higher price, but it's worth it.

We may not be able to travel to Paris right now, but we can enjoy an imaginary visit with the help of Carousels of Paris.

Lesa Has a Give-Away!

I am a very lucky woman to be blessed with some of the best friends on God's green earth.

Lesa Holstine is one of those that goes beyond good friend to sister of my heart.

One (one of many) of the reasons everyone loves her is her generosity.  She is generous to so many with her support, kind words, and kind acts, and is loyal from the top of her adorable head right down to her toes.

This little give-away she's doing at her blog came as a complete surprise.  Check it out!  https://lesasbookcritiques.blogspot.com/2020/10/a-gift-giveaway.html

This book is from our hearts.

I hope whoever wins Lesa's give-away enjoys it.

Carousels of Paris Giveaway - July Newsletter

Hello Everyone!
What a year, huh?!

If, like me, you're ready to have 2020 behind you  - - -
Raise Your Hand!

I hope you're all doing well and staying healthy.
Donald and I, along with Annabelle, are sticking pretty close to home.  We're missing doing the things we might normally be doing, but since we're both homebodies at heart, home isn't a bad place to be.
In spite of being unable to visit bookstores to do signings, sales for Carousels of Paris have been healthy and we're very pleased.
If you have a copy, and if you're enjoying it, I hope you'll consider leaving a review somewhere.  At your favorite bookstore webpage, or Barnes & Noble, or Books A Million, or Amazon, Goodreads, or Facebook.  I would appreciate it, and am interested in hearing what you think.
If you don't have a copy, well - we can try to fix that!
If you’d like to win a copy of Carousels of Parisalong with a copy of a photograph from the book, please fill out the form on my contact page or send an email to info@kayewilkinsonbarley
Choose one of the three carousel photos posted on my webpage and tell me which one you’d like to receive if your name is the one I draw out of the magic pink Willie Nelson hat.
You can choose an 8 x 10″ or a 5 x 7″ (frame is not included).
OR
If you already have a copy of the book, maybe you’d rather win this canvas tote (see my webpage!) along with a photo. of your choice
To be considered you must include your mailing address!
I’ll be drawing the winning name on July 31st and will announce the winner at my webpage on that day.
Thanks for playing and good luck!
