Reading some very good books

I have had the pleasure of reading some excellent books recently.

We all go through spells of not being able to find that book we know we need (even without knowing exactly what it is) from time to time, but thankfully that sorts itself out with a constant supply of new (and old books!) available to choose from.

That perfect book will find its way into our hands.

Sometimes it's the latest entry in a well-loved series.

Lise McClendon writes one of my very favorite series, and the latest is one of the best.  There are five Bennett sisters, all smart, strong women.  Do I have a favorite sister?  Well, yes.  Yes, I do.  😁. Now that I'm completely caught up with the series I'm thinking I may go back and revisit her.

Or discovering an author we weren't familiar with.

Thanks to NetGalley.com I got an early peek at a terrific book by a truly gifted author.

I fell head over heels in love with Leesa Cross-Smith's HALF-BLOWN ROSE within just a few pages.

It hits the shelves in July.  Be on the look out!

Or, after waiting and waiting and waiting, you're finally awarded for the wait when a new a J.D. Robb pops up on your Kindle at 12:14 a.m. on its release date.

<sigh>

Life is good.

Off I go to spend the day with Eve and Roarke and friends in the 54th book in this series.  And they never disappoint.

Happy Reading, Everyone!

Labor Day Cravings

Aargh!

I woke up today looking forward to two things; things I've been craving.

Hawaiian Pizza (now, now - don't judge!) and the new J.D. Robb.

I spent some time tidying up the house so I could settle in and spend the day with Eve and Roark and the gang in the newest book; "Shadows in Death."

Well, y'all have already figured this out, right?

Today is 9/7, NOT 9/8, which is the "Shadows in Death" pub date which means it did not pop up, like magic, on my Kindle. Waaahhh . . .

But I'm still gonna have my Hawaiian Pizza (now, now - do NOT judge!). And I'll continue looking forward to the new J. D. Robb.

Dru Ann Love reads J.D. Robb's "Naked in Death"

I am so pleased to have another of my very favorite people here visiting today.

Having your very own book fort is huge fun!  I get to visit with people I just don't get an opportunity to see nearly often enough.

And Annabelle is very happy to see her Auntie Dru!

The reclusive figure of Dru Ann Love reportedly spends her working hours at the mysterious daytime situation doing “research.”

Her non-working hours are spent less reclusively on her blog, dru’s book musings.

She is an avid reader and is happy to be in “her element” within the mystery community.

In 2017, Dru Ann attended a record 5 mystery conferences: Left Coast Crime, Malice Domestic, Deadly Ink, Bouchercon, New England Crime Bake.

Dru Ann was a panelist at the MWA New York Chapter/Fiction Writer’s Conference, held in Stamford, Connecticut, 2017.

Dru Ann is a 2017 MWA Raven Award recipient and was nominated for a 2015 Anthony Award for her website, dru’s book musings. Website: https://drusbookmusing.com/

Dru is another friend who is known by everyone in the mystery community, and helps it be the special group that it is.

Enjoy Dru Ann's reading of a passage from J.D. Robb's first Eve Dallas & Roarke novel - Naked in Death, which is so very fitting seeing as how she's Eve & Roarke's #1 fan.

Dru Ann is one of the people responsible for having me hooked on J.D. Robb.  When I finally paid attention and picked up Naked in Death, I was immediately hooked and started grabbing and gobbling each of the books in order until I'm now caught up and waiting for the next in the series.

So, thank you Dru Ann, for introducing me to one of the best series being written today.  There are enough J.D. Robb fans to prove this to be a true statement.
